parlez espanol?

I am trying to get back in to some of the other things I enjoy doing there besides spending Lindens and making house calls ^_~ I originally bought a big python to strap to my thigh and terrorize the neighborhoods of City of Lost Angels (CoLA)...python...as in large Colt revolver...you dirty minded people! heehee. But, CoLA lost my interest when I was guaranteed to crash a minimum of three times every time I was in the SIM, couldn't find people who didn't already have long RP story lines, or the few I ran in to were never there.

Oh, back up, these are SIMS where people role play a character in a dark world - Vampire, Lycan (or werewolf for those of us who prefer the Americanized version), Neko, Angel, Demon, etc. Combat is a large part of the world, but they have some pretty amazing scripted systems for tracking health, abilities, and experience, just like a more traditional MMO.

Returning to present...so, CoLA wasn't going well for me. I grabbed my...big gun and went in search of adventure in Toxian City. The people there are similar, but different from CoLA, and I found it a little easier to wander about and enjoy myself. I did not crash at all, though there were instances of lag (I believe this is a SL thing, not a SIM thing because my cache file gets freaking enormous and I have to delete it on occasion or I can spend several minutes just letting my computer load the zone). I made two acquaintances relatively quickly. The first was a very cute neko carrying a SWAT style M16 on her back. She grinned from the middle of the street and I smiled back. Little did I know we were about to climb up and sit amiably on the wall of language comprehension ^_^ She speaks spanish and me...not so much. Still, between Google-ing some of her words and her ability to understand a little of what I was saying, we enjoyed a chat followed by a friendly melee. Apparently cat-fighting is a natural gift of mine...eep! I sent her on her way to acquire a set of the long black razor sharp nails I had used moments before to tear new holes in her clothing and few in her too. On my way back home I was sauntering along the street, watching the colorful residents and was beeped by a girl sporting a most impressive mohawk. We discussed the merits of frequent hair color experimentation. She promised to give me a good ear scratching next time our paths crossed and I went home to my tousled sheets for some much needed rest.

I dropped some links at the bottom of the page for CoLA and Toxian. I'll do a fashion blog soon on my COLT Python (the other one comes from Midnight Lotus ^_~) and my wicked sharp, nicely manicured nails. - Wil

Wilderness and City Chic Meet!

Inspired by this awesome gift hair from Bewitched this outfit is good for everything from Coney Island to Dublin, Italy to Hawaii!

I love butterflies. The tattoo was a gift from C.I. Umm...I don't remember more than that. This butterfly is full of sass and, like the beautiful insect, lives like there's no tomorrow!

The top consists of two items. The shirt layer is from Dutch Touch, Toppies (yeah, I can't get enough of them) and the jacket layer is by Bare Rose and is part of the Damaged Low Rise outfit which also comes with the jacket in white, black and white tube tops, and several styles of very delightfully ripped denim jeans.

The pants which I swear I didn't paint on (but they may be a little damp) are X2 Flower Power and came in two colors. I'm wearing the blue-black.

The rose and thorn jewelry I covetously purchased from Shiny Things along with several other of that design, needing practically no size adjustment and it looks beautiful! The sunglasses are J* Design Titan, color and opacity changing with optional bling. Skin is my favorite Another Skin (Le). Any other details you wish to know about just ask ^_^ Links to these stores coming soon!

How's it blogging?

It's been almost a week since I blogged last! Well, my dad always said it was better to hold your tongue and let everyone think you're an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt ^_^

I haven't really done much in the last week. A bit of shopping - I would like to blog on that, but haven't felt in the mood for it yet, a bit of building, reading blogs, and watching my neighbors erect houses or, in the case of one fun personality, a giant flying cargo ship. I did install a kitchen which seems to be more about doing chores than creating fun things to eat. On the other hand, I added a script for those occasions when laying on a marble counter top or leaning against the fridge strikes my fancy. Participation of two is recommended for those times. *wink*

I hope everyone kicked off 2008 in a good way! - Wil

Fashion Review Numero Uno

So, this is my first fashion review blog for Second Life. I only know how this stuff is supposed to work based on what I have read on other blogs. I don't know how new any of these items are or anything about the creator except that I loved the look and wanted to show it off! So here goes!!

The main part of the outfit shown here is the Corduroy One Piece in the Bordeaux color ($390L). The outfit consists of a jacket and underwear layer, and then prims for left and right upper arms, chest (corduroy collar not shown), pelvis (waist tie), spine (skirt), and stomach (strapless top). When it comes to bulky sweaters or an outfit like this I think the prims really fill out the outfit well. It's an absolute necessity with this outfit, though you can do without the waist ties if you want to save on prims you are wearing. I love the way the neck is loose and baggy and the sleeves cover the arms in a nice loose fit, looking very natural. I am very impressed with the quality and will be going back to try out one of their trench jackets too!

I found this shop in Dogtown Alley, a little two story punk/neko mall including a couple well known stores - Neko Gear and Primitive Designs. (oh, adding the SLURLs as soon as I figure out how). The store is Cubic Effect. Their selection is limited, but very creative and look even better worn than admired on a wall!

I am going to give cudos to the other makers of my outfit, and will try to do a blog on them too. Hopefully I don't upset any clothiers while I learn the ropes of fashion blogging ^_^

Olive Green Sports Bra - Paradisis, BioPunk
Torn Fishnet Stockings - Dutch Touch (part of the Teppi Dress), The Block
Grey Combat Boots - Orbit, BioPunk
Skin - Le brow2, freckles envy - Another Shop (I bought it a week before they were being given away ^_^)
Hair - Gazette Hair Watermellon - Gritty Kitty (love love love)

I don't think I have any shots in here which show my eyes or piercings, so I am going to leave body parts and accessories out of the post, but if you are needing to know, just give me a shout!

Up on the Roof Top...

Nope, this is definitely not a post-holiday last ditch effort to sing a Christmas carol before the CD goes back in the dusty box labeled XMAS HOLIDAY till the end of 2008. I just put together a roof top garden with lighted fountain, flowers, and romantic poses, all under a star-filled sky! There is one letter to describe it...mmmmm! Oh, and look, a picture Woooo!! I will reference my sources of SL goodies as soon as I get a bit more organized with my postings.

Some of you may be asking - Wild, where did you find the time to do all this? Aren't you usually lip locked and embracing some person you barely know who just happened to catch your fancy? Ok, no I am not that bad ^_~ But, I have been enjoying creating in SL, though my skills are tiny, minuscule, insignificant, microscopic. Nevertheless, it is a start and something about adding my own creations to my home has really made me feel so much more attached to the rock upon which I have dashed myself!

Sitting down never felt so good

With much trial and error and a small shopping spree (under 2 hours) I was able to create simple pillows on the ground with a sit animation scripted in to them! I am much excited by my triumph over the strange and unfamiliar territory of scripting as well as my deeply innate procrastination ^_^ Building on that success, I added a security script to my tower room balcony door, created custom framed art with floating text, and personalized teleporters which can instantaneously zoom me to preset locations on my property. So much easier than walking or flying...or falling off my balcony!

My next goal is to focus this enthusiasm into setting up a photo account and linking it with my blog so I may apply picture to words, adding 1000 X more value to them. Maybe I will be able to post pictures of my little home and it's contents.

A Tale of Two SIMs

I recently expanded my land holdings on the mountain where I live. I'm not sure what it's official name is, but I call it Wilderness on Top! I started off with a relatively modest 1024 parcel and was, originally, looking for space at the water's edge where neighbors would be unable to encroach on my peace and insanity. However, I found it to be cost prohibitive and my unnatural reluctance to live in a tropical environment forced me to seek inland. The mountain was a wish come true. Sure, I have neighbors, but I live on a sheer cliff, effectively isolating me within this rocky suburbia and it has an incredible view. So, after spending almost a week house shopping, I came across one I couldn't resist and promptly plopped it down on my little slice of heaven (yeah, that's how high up I am ^_^). When they say a house is made to fit a 1024 parcel they aren't kidding around. I had to work to make sure the whole structure was contained on my land.

The house reflects the owner in tastes and moods, being a combination of glass and steel and brick, with large open spaces, doors and balconies, and a magical bedroom...mmm. And then I'm supposed to decorate it...ack! I don't even like furniture in 1st Life. Well I have a bed, hot tub, couches, and a weird leather and rivet springboard...oh, and a rocket sleigh. Not bad for a first attempt, I suppose, but I was angling for beauty and simplicity...I swear.

Imagine my excitement when the land next to mine goes up for sale! More property and there isn't a giant house covering the entire surface! Now I own a second 1024 of land adjacent to my own...wooo! Oh...but, someone forgot to mention that the SIM boundary occurs between my two parcels...ouch! And it's not one of those simple to walk across boundaries either. This is the one where you continue to move for 10 seconds, ghosting through the landscape, ignorant of the laws of physics as it relates to solid bodies, before being ripped back to the place you meant to stop. Ok...so...I guess there won't be any skybridges connecting my land together. It's like owning two desert islands within shouting distance with a shark filled canal between. I'm not sure how well I am liking that. Not to mention the new SIM may be a bit lag ridden. And, yep, you guessed it, I erected another house on my new land! And I love that one too! Wait a sec. I have to decorate another one?...oh hell!

I fear, very much like the Dickens' tale, romance may be short-lived and violent. But which land am I going to call home? Which house is the one meant to contain my maddeningly indecisive decorating styles? The battle has commenced!
