I recently expanded my land holdings on the mountain where I live. I'm not sure what it's official name is, but I call it Wilderness on Top! I started off with a relatively modest 1024 parcel and was, originally, looking for space at the water's edge where neighbors would be unable to encroach on my peace and insanity. However, I found it to be cost prohibitive and my unnatural reluctance to live in a tropical environment forced me to seek inland. The mountain was a wish come true. Sure, I have neighbors, but I live on a sheer cliff, effectively isolating me within this rocky suburbia and it has an incredible view. So, after spending almost a week house shopping, I came across one I couldn't resist and promptly plopped it down on my little slice of heaven (yeah, that's how high up I am ^_^). When they say a house is made to fit a 1024 parcel they aren't kidding around. I had to work to make sure the whole structure was contained on my land.
The house reflects the owner in tastes and moods, being a combination of glass and steel and brick, with large open spaces, doors and balconies, and a magical bedroom...mmm. And then I'm supposed to decorate it...ack! I don't even like furniture in 1st Life. Well I have a bed, hot tub, couches, and a weird leather and rivet springboard...oh, and a rocket sleigh. Not bad for a first attempt, I suppose, but I was angling for beauty and simplicity...I swear.
Imagine my excitement when the land next to mine goes up for sale! More property and there isn't a giant house covering the entire surface! Now I own a second 1024 of land adjacent to my own...wooo! Oh...but, someone forgot to mention that the SIM boundary occurs between my two parcels...ouch! And it's not one of those simple to walk across boundaries either. This is the one where you continue to move for 10 seconds, ghosting through the landscape, ignorant of the laws of physics as it relates to solid bodies, before being ripped back to the place you meant to stop. Ok...so...I guess there won't be any skybridges connecting my land together. It's like owning two desert islands within shouting distance with a shark filled canal between. I'm not sure how well I am liking that. Not to mention the new SIM may be a bit lag ridden. And, yep, you guessed it, I erected another house on my new land! And I love that one too! Wait a sec. I have to decorate another one?...oh hell!
I fear, very much like the Dickens' tale, romance may be short-lived and violent. But which land am I going to call home? Which house is the one meant to contain my maddeningly indecisive decorating styles? The battle has commenced!
